  • Arakawa Toyozo was named a Living National Treasure for the techniques of Shino and Setoguro, and spent his life trying to revive and recreate the beauty of Momoyama Shino wares. With footage taken at his workshop in Ogaya, Gifu Prefecture, this video captures Arakawa spinning Shino and Setoguro wares at the wheel, as well as showing how the master glazes and fires his ceramic art. Many of Arakawa's major masterpieces are featured. By transposing old film into video, this feature is an important record of the great artist's life and artistic history.
